Title: Quality Engineering Lead
Location: Sydney (WFH Hybrid)
Role Overview:
We’re partnering with a leading enterprise organisation undergoing a major core banking and platform transformation. They’re looking for a Quality Engineering Lead to shape the quality vision, drive automation strategy, and embed best-in-class testing practices across a complex, business-critical technology landscape.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in modern engineering environments and enjoys building quality into systems from the ground up—rather than testing it in at the end.
What You’ll Be Doing: - Define and own the end-to-end quality engineering strategy across a large-scale core platform upgrade
- Design and implement modern test automation frameworks across UI, API, and contract testing
- Lead testing efforts from planning through delivery, ensuring quality milestones are met
- Build, mentor, and uplift a high-performing team of quality engineers and automation specialists
- Partner closely with engineering, architecture, and delivery leaders to influence design and improve system testability
- Identify and communicate quality risks and drive improvements at a program and stakeholder level
What We’re Looking For: - Proven experience leading quality engineering or test strategy within complex, enterprise environments
- Strong background in Banking, Financial Services, or highly regulated industries
- Hands-on experience building automation frameworks (e.g., Playwright, Karate, or similar tools)
- Solid programming capability in at least one language (Java, Python, TypeScript, etc.)
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, cloud platforms, and containerised environments
- A collaborative leader who can influence technical direction and foster a strong quality culture
