Great opportunity for an Engineering Manager based in either Sydney or Melbourne to join a leading financial organization in a Hybrid role.
You’ll be joining a well-established team building and maintaining automation tooling and creating industry leading distributed Kubernetes based platforms. The aim is for 100% on cloud, with a massive focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Amazon Web Services (AWS). They use innovative approaches to automation including extensive use of Hashicorp Vault, Kubernetes Operators, ArgoCD, in-house written Go Operators and GCP & AWS Cloud Platforms. This role is best described as 60% management and 40% hands on.
In this role, you will be applying your platform management and stakeholder management skills to a multi-role team of engineers to oversee delivery of solutions to a GCP platform. A willingness and ability to delegate major pieces of work to senior members of the team while retaining visibility is essential.
Skills and Experience needed:
- Experience managing teams of 5+ engineers with diverse skill levels and levels
- Demonstrated success in building high-performing, collaborative team cultures
- Track record of developing individual career progression plans and conducting meaningful performance reviews
- Proven ability to recruit, onboard, and retain top engineering talent in competitive markets
- Experience in maintaining platform quality and adhering to platform objectives
- Proven ability to balance feature delivery with technical debt reduction and platform stability
- Ability to establish and track meaningful engineering metrics (DORA metrics, SLIs/SLOs etc)
Technical skills needed:
- Ideally solid experience in either Kubernetes or Secrets management environments
- Experience with at least one major programming languages, such as Golang, C/C++, Java, or similar. Experience in Golang would be highly regarded
- Experience with GitOps (preferably ArgoCD) and declarative infrastructure as code (Kustomize, Helm, CloudFormation, or Terraform)
- Experience with production environments of Kubernetes or other large-scale container orchestration environments
