Metal Finisher – Erith, Kent - £23 – 25k + Benefits
 
The client, who designs, develops, manufactures, and sells a complete range of state-of-the-art small calibre weapons systems to clients across the globe and are now seeking to recruit a metal finisher to join their expanding production team.
 
You will be reporting to the Finishing Supervisor and Production Manager and your role will involve working closely with both the Assembly and Manufacturing Departments.
 
Therefor your duties will include, but not limited to:
·         Carry out degreasing and sandblasting operations on components, as well as Phosphating and Chrome plating operation on components
·         Ensure all work undertaken in-house is conducted in a manner to comply with the requirements of company’s Quality Manuals, Work instructions and Health and Safety instruction’s
·         Carry out any other work, as instructed by the Manufacturing Manager, under supervision if necessary.
·         Prepare (including masking if required) and apply paint to a range of fabricated metal products to a high standard.
·         To carry out basic quality control checks as well as planning your work to minimise waste of raw materials as well as working in a clean and tidy manner.
·         Adhere to the Company’s environmental policies and legal duties, specifically control of emissions, management of solvents and the recycling of waste product.
·         Personally make health and safety a priority ensuring you comply with all health and safety instructions.
·         Wear and maintain your respiratory and personal protective equipment at all times
·         To read and assess production information for required specification details; working in an organised manner to ensure the task is completed efficiently, to the correct standard and within the necessary time frame.
·         To ensure that all Company property issued for use at work is used within guidelines and maintained accordingly.
·         To ensure the safe operation of machinery within the area of responsibility.
·         To assist in other areas of production within capabilities and commensurate with level in the Company as and when required.
 
To be eligible for this role you will need the following skills
·         Meticulous accuracy & attention to detail.
·         Experience of a production environment with knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Systems.
·         Good communication skills with appreciation of supporting department Design, Purchasing & Inspection needs.
·         The physical ability to carry out manual handling tasks
·         The ability to follow processes accurately
·         Good numeracy skills
·         Enthusiasm, professional attitude, and willingness to learn
·         Counterbalance Forklift Truck licence would be advantageous
 
The ideal candidate would be someone who has a background in metal-smithing or a willingness to learn and develop new skills, the ideal candidate would probably come from the REME, RN or RAF, or similar and has done a similar role in the past.
 
In return they are offering an excellent starting salary, with 25 days + Bank Holidays for a 37 ½ hour week, which is 0730 to 1615 Mon to Thurs with ½ day Friday, HOWEVER they are trialing a new working practice where you will work Mon to Thurs 0630 to 1620 and receive a 3-day weekend. There is also company pension and the possibility of an annual bonus on sales which has been paid for the last 10 years on the bounce.
