People & Development Manager (Part-Time | Approx. 0.6 FTE) Bournemouth & Farnborough | Hybrid Working | £65,000-£75,000 FTE (£39,000-£45,000 pro rata) What if your next HR role wasn't about maintaining processes, but shaping the future capability of an entire business?
My client is a growing, international consultancy of around 50 employees, operating across the UK and overseas. Following significant growth and continued investment in talent, they are looking for their first dedicated
People & Development Manager to build and lead a people agenda that goes far beyond traditional HR.
This is a rare opportunity to join a highly respected professional services environment where people development sits firmly at the centre of the business strategy.
The Opportunity Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you'll be the organisation's lead HR professional, responsible for the full employee lifecycle, whilst taking ownership of a business-critical challenge:
How do you turn talented individuals into exceptional consultants and future leaders? The foundations already exist. There is a coaching model, competency framework, established development activity, salary structures and performance processes. What is missing is someone who can connect these elements into a coherent development journey and create clear pathways for progression.
You'll have the freedom and autonomy to shape the people function, define what great talent development looks like and establish the frameworks that help individuals progress from graduate level through to senior and principal positions.
Key Responsibilities - Lead the HR function as the organisation's standalone HR specialist
- Own recruitment and onboarding across the business
- Drive coaching, talent development and succession planning initiatives
- Create meaningful career pathways and progression frameworks
- Partner with directors to improve performance and capability
- Manage employee relations and HR compliance matters
- Enhance the existing coaching model and ensure development activity delivers measurable outcomes
- Build a practical people plan aligned to commercial growth objectives
- Assess and strengthen HR infrastructure, including future HR systems capability
- Act as a trusted adviser and impartial point of contact for employees and leaders alike
About You We're interested in speaking with experienced HR professionals who genuinely enjoy helping people realise their potential.
You'll likely bring:
- Significant generalist HR experience in a standalone, senior or business-partnering capacity
- Strong employment law and employee relations knowledge
- Experience of coaching, talent development, leadership development or organisational development
- The confidence to operate strategically whilst remaining hands-on operationally
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of how people practices support business performance
- The credibility to influence senior stakeholders and challenge constructively
- Experience within consultancy, professional services or another knowledge-based environment would be advantageous, but is not essential
- CIPD qualification (ideally Chartered) or equivalent experience
Most importantly, you'll be someone who sees development as an individual journey rather than a one-size-fits-all process and enjoys creating environments where people can thrive.
Why Join? This is a business that has grown significantly in recent years and continues to invest heavily in its people. You'll find:
- Genuine autonomy and the opportunity to shape the people agenda
- A supportive, low-hierarchy leadership team
- A culture built around coaching, learning and development
- Significant exposure to senior stakeholders
- Flexibility around how your part-time hours are structured
- Hybrid working with meaningful office collaboration
- Excellent holiday entitlement
- Profit-related bonus potential
- Employee Assistance Programme
If you're looking for a role where you can combine strategic thinking, hands-on HR, coaching and organisational development in equal measure, this is an opportunity to make a lasting impact.
