IT Category Manager

Procurement Heads is delighted to be partnering with a leading healthcare organisation to recruit a Specialist Category Manager for a 12-month fixed-term contract.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced procurement professional to lead complex, high-value procurement projects within a specialist healthcare environment. You will be responsible for developing and implementing category strategies, managing major sourcing programmes, and delivering commercial solutions that support critical service delivery.

The Role
As Specialist IT Category Manager, you will:
  • Lead large-scale and complex procurement projects from strategy through to contract award.
  • Develop category plans that drive value, efficiency, innovation, and risk reduction.
  • Manage procurement activity across equipment, technology, managed services, consumables, and associated contracts.
  • Ensure compliance with public sector procurement regulations and governance requirements.
  • Deliver measurable savings and service improvements through effective category management.
  • Build strong relationships with clinical, operational, finance, and executive stakeholders.
  • Manage supplier relationships and contract performance to maximise value throughout the contract lifecycle.
  • Provide expert commercial and contractual advice to senior stakeholders.
About You
We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:
  • Significant experience in IT category management and strategic procurement.
  • Strong knowledge of public sector procurement regulations and best practice.
  • Experience delivering complex, high-value procurement projects.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
  • Commercially focused approach with strong negotiation capabilities.
