Category Lead – Assets & Estates, as part of a retained, multi‑role procurement recruitment campaign.
This is a senior procurement leadership role with responsibility for one of the organisation’s most strategically important categories, supporting the delivery and stewardship of London’s fire, rescue and emergency response infrastructure.

The Role Reporting to the Head of Procurement – Assets & Estates, the Category Lead will take ownership of
end‑to‑end procurement and contract management across assets, estates and capital works.
The role combines
strategic category leadership, complex regulated procurement delivery and team leadership within a high‑profile public sector environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning and delivering the Assets & Estates category strategy, aligned to organisational and capital investment priorities
- Leading high‑value, high‑risk public sector procurements from strategy through to contract award and mobilisation
- Providing commercial leadership on value for money, whole‑life costing and risk management
- Managing supplier and contract performance, governance and assurance
- Acting as a trusted commercial partner to senior stakeholders across estates, property, finance and operational teams
- Leading and developing procurement staff, supporting capability, capacity planning and performance
- Ensuring full compliance with procurement legislation, governance frameworks and transparency requirements
- Embedding Responsible Procurement, sustainability, social value and equality objectives into sourcing and contracts
About You This role will suit an experienced public sector procurement professional with strong category expertise in
assets, estates or capital programmes, and the confidence to operate at senior stakeholder level.
You are likely to bring:
- Extensive experience in public sector procurement, category and contract management
- Strong working knowledge of public procurement regulations
- A track record of delivering complex, compliant procurements in regulated environments
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
- Experience leading and developing procurement teams
- A pragmatic, commercially focused approach balanced with governance and risk awareness
MCIPS (or working towards) is highly desirable.
