Overview
Procurement Heads are working with a successful, engineering‑led manufacturing business. Our client is a global provider of high‑performance solutions across aerospace, energy, industrial and environmental markets. Following strong growth over recent years, the business continues to invest in its supply chain capability to support increasingly complex products, tighter customer requirements, and ongoing new product introduction.
This Technical Buyer role sits close to engineering and manufacturing, supporting both day‑to‑day production and development activity within a regulated environment.

Summary
This position would suit a Buyer who has already operated within an engineering or manufacturing business.
You will take responsibility for managing suppliers of machined components, metals, treatments and subcontracted services, ensuring technical compliance, delivery performance and commercial control. Working closely with Design Engineering, Operations, Planning and Quality, you will help ensure continuity of supply and alignment between supplier capability and product requirements.
This is a hands‑on role, suited to someone who understands how procurement decisions directly impact manufacturing performance.

Key Responsibilities of the Buyer
  • Manage suppliers of mechanical components, machined parts, materials and subcontract processes
  • Place and manage purchase orders and works orders in line with engineering drawings, specifications and quality requirements
  • Manage supplier delivery, quality and technical performance, resolving issues as they arise
  • Support evaluation and onboarding of new suppliers, including capability and compliance assessment
  • Lead pricing and commercial discussions within agreed budgets and cost targets
  • Work closely with engineering to support new product introduction and design‑for‑manufacture activity
  • Monitor supplier performance against delivery and quality KPIs
  • Maintain accurate data within ERP / MRP systems
  • Support the development of longer‑term supplier agreements and more structured supplier relationships
Ideal Candidate
  • Experience as a Buyer or Junior Buyer within an engineering or manufacturing business
  • Comfortable buying against technical drawings, specifications and BOMs
  • Background in mechanical components, machining, metals or subcontract services
  • Experience within aerospace or another regulated environment preferred
  • Working knowledge of materials, surface treatments and manufacturing processes
  • Confident dealing with suppliers on delivery, quality and technical issues
  • Experience using ERP / MRP systems
  • Awareness of contractual terms and conditions desirable
