We are now looking for a dynamic and experienced HR Business Partner to join our team at our Shepherds Bush location.
Overall Purpose: To increase the opportunities for commercial success by working in partnership with the operations function and area managers to create a high-performing culture with the right people in the right place at the right time.
The Role: As an HR Business Partner at Vue Cinemas, you will play a crucial role in shaping the employee experience and driving our people strategy. You will work closely with the management team to provide strategic HR support and ensure that our HR practices align with our business goals.
Key Accountabilities: Drive High Performance: - Drive the consistent delivery of the Vue customer experience across all areas.
- Ensure that cinema and area managers have the required capability to consistently perform to the required standards, delivering their goals, objectives, and targets.
- Ensure that cinema and area managers have the required capability to consistently perform the required standards in delivering the employee life cycle for the people (e.g., recruitment, onboarding, performance development, succession planning, etc.).
- Drive high training standards across all cinemas, highlighting the need for NYU workshops and modules for the cinema training framework to the group learning and development manager and, where required, support the design and delivery of them.
- Drive performance management processes such as regular performance reviews and objective setting, promptly addressing underperformance.
- Identify annual training needs for the cinema managers and ensure the annual training calendar is created and implemented.
- Drive the utilisation of specialist skills across all operational areas of the business by identifying high-performing specialists.
- Using area-focused HR dashboards, metrics, and KPIs, proactively identify trends and create people plans to ensure continuous improvement.
Drive HR Operational Excellence: - Act as a business partner and single point of contact for our area managers.
- Implement all initiatives being driven by the group HR team (e.g., annual pay review, internal communications, and cascade of new initiatives).
- Manage and deliver through virtual teams based in operations (e.g., training champs, recruitment champs, ER champs, etc.).
- Ensure all HR policies, processes, and procedures are implemented to the required standards across all cinemas.
- Consistently deliver an accurate and timely response to transactional activity and business issues. Work effectively with all members of the HR team to ensure that people-related solutions provided are seamless, timely, and meet business needs.
Ensure Strategic Readiness of Talent: - Using talent management tools developed by the group HR function to create visibility of the capability within the operations leadership team (e.g., high potentials, underperformers, etc.), addressing business needs, drive effective succession plans ensuring that individuals in the supporting talent pool are provided with required development plans.
- Define critical cinemas and drive general manager succession plans for these cinemas.
- Create general manager talent pools and pipelines that support succession plans for critical cinemas, ensuring the right people are selected and provided with personal development plans.
- Support area managers with their creation of succession plans and talent pools for all cinema roles across all areas.
- Ensure that only highly talented individuals are appointed as cinema managers in the most profitable sites.
Create a Motivated, Engaged, and Aligned Workforce: - Propose innovative reward and recognition programmes that engage and align the workforce.
- Support the effective implementation of company incentive plans.
- Create and implement people plans that continually improve engagement.
Continual Business Improvement and Change: - Be the HR project lead in business improvement and change initiatives that relate to cinema operations.
- Work closely with the operations senior management team to ensure that optimal cinema structures and headcount are in place at all times.
- Ensure all people-related requirements relating to cinema closures and new cinema openings are effectively planned and implemented (e.g., pay rates, training, and recruitment).
- Work in partnership with the operational management teams to identify opportunities in areas of improvement to support improved organisational and people performance in line with business needs.
About You: Technical Knowledge and Experience: - Commercial understanding of how a multi-site business operates and its key drivers.
- Experience in a senior HR generalist business partner role with responsibility for multiple operational business areas.
- Generalist HR knowledge and experience in all key HR disciplines (e.g., employee relations, performance management, training, management development, succession planning, recruitment, reward, recognition, policy, and procedures).
- Proven ability to consistently deliver within a fast-moving and highly pressurised environment, creating a high-performance culture with engaged and motivated people in an environment that is highly focused on cost control.
- Clear understanding of how HR can deliver business value with an outstanding track record of achieving tangible commercial results.
- Proven experience in successfully managing and implementing change.
- Project management experience, having created and implemented people plans that have successfully improved employee engagement and performance.
- Experience using people metrics to deliver measurable business improvement.
