NET Recruit is helping a services business find an
Assistant Financial Accountant to support key areas such as statutory reporting, regulatory submissions, and financial governance. Working closely with the Financial Accountant and wider Finance team, you will contribute directly to producing accurate, compliant, and timely financial information. This role is essential for maintaining strong financial controls, supporting statutory and regulatory reporting processes, and safeguarding the integrity of financial data across the organisation. From assisting with VAT and statutory accounts to maintaining the budgeting system and supporting due diligence activities, your work will underpin informed decision-making and sound financial management.
Your Role and Responsibilities In this position, your duties may include, but are not limited to: - Supporting the preparation of statutory financial statements, including subsidiary accounts
- Preparing year-end audit schedules in accordance with external auditor requirements.
- Assisting with submissions to the Office for National Statistics, including the Annual Business Survey, Annual Purchase Survey and Economic Impact Report.
- Supporting quarterly NROSH reporting in collaboration with the Financial Accountant.
- Assisting with the preparation, review, and submission of VAT returns for all business entities, including handling related queries and managing payments.
- Completing a range of balance sheet reconciliations, including VAT control accounts and reserves.
- Working with the Project Accountant to support the operation and development of the finance reporting and budgeting system (Adaptive).
- Assisting the Financial Controller and Financial Accountants with financial due diligence on potential acquisitions.
- Coordinating the monthly journal review process across finance teams to maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
- Providing support with additional external reporting requirements as needed.
What You Will Need to Apply:The ideal candidate will bring a solid academic foundation, including GCSEs in English and Maths and A-Level education (or equivalent). A relevant degree or AAT Level 3 qualification is desirable, as is active study towards a recognised professional accounting qualification (ACA, CIMA or ACCA).
You may be part-qualified, or alternatively, you will have at least three years of relevant finance experience - ideally within financial reporting, management accounting or budgeting. Experience working with financial systems, strong analytical skills, and an ability to work collaboratively within a wider team are essential.

- Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple deadlines
- A proactive, problem-solving approach and the confidence to liaise with senior colleagues and external advisors
