In-House Legal Counsel to support its ongoing growth and development. Your Role and Responsibilities
While in this position your duties may include, but are not limited to: - Act as the primary point of contact for legal queries relating to customer contracts.
- Review and report on all NHS customer contracts.
- Oversee the review of property leases and associated documentation.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of standardised contract templates, clause libraries, and governance protocols.
- Conduct legal due diligence for contract renewals, novations, amendments, and acquisitions.
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure visibility of key contractual obligations, renewals, and termination dates.
- Manage and review property leases, licences to assign, lease renewals, and related agreements.
- Maintain a central schedule of property obligations, rent reviews, and renewal timelines.
- Liaise with external legal advisers, landlords, and property professionals to ensure smooth and compliant lease processes.
- Provide clear and practical legal advice on contractual risk, regulatory requirements, and compliance obligations.
- Support the development and implementation of internal governance frameworks and legal risk management procedures.
- Contribute to internal awareness of legal standards, policies, and expectations.
- Work closely with finance, operations, and senior management teams to ensure legal considerations align with business objectives.
- Support legal risk assessments for new initiatives, projects, and strategic decisions.
- Provide ad-hoc legal advice to departments across the organisation.
- Assist the Chief Financial Officer with preparing reports and legal summaries for senior management and Board-level review.
What You Will Need to Apply - UK-qualified solicitor or legal executive with 1–3 years’ PQE.
- Demonstrable experience in NHS customer contracts, commercial agreements, and property lease management.
- Strong understanding of contract drafting, negotiation, and lifecycle management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a pragmatic and solution-focused approach.
- Strong organisational abilities with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Experience working in-house, particularly within the healthcare sector or related industries.
- Familiarity with SharePoint or contract management systems.
- High level of commercial awareness and meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while supporting cross-functional teams.
