Data Technical Lead

In this role, you will deliver reliable, scalable, and secure data solutions that enable teams to make informed, data-driven decisions. You’ll ensure our data platforms and pipelines are efficient, well-architected, and follow best practices while maintaining high data integrity and performance. As a technical leader, you’ll mentor others, promote a culture of collaboration and continuous learning, and work closely with the Senior Engineering Manager to drive team growth and the evolution of our data capabilities.
 
Please note this is a Brisbane based role, and we have hybrid working, with two days per week in our beautiful Milton office.  
 

What we build 
  • Our stack is Node.js, AWS and React/React Native and Snowflake
  • Our trading platform needs to be highly scalable to deal with sharp peaks in the market. 
  • As custodians of our customers’ money, security is also a key consideration in how we engineer things. 
  • With over 800,000 customers, we place a lot of emphasis on design and user experience so that our customers can have the easiest-to-use and most trustworthy experience. 
Some of your key responsibilities in this role will include: 
  • Lead improvements in Swyftx’s data offerings across R&D and design/build complex data processing services and ETL pipelines
  • Build and maintain the data platform, including the datalake/warehouse/lakehouse, ensuring scalability, data integrity, and security
  • Mentor squad members, promote best practices, and assist in their growth to build technical excellence
  • Collaborate with the Senior Engineering Manager to review squad output and deliver technical solutions that meet objectives
  • Solve technical challenges and work with stakeholders to drive efficiency, precision, and innovation
  • Ensure adherence to governance processes, risk management, and information security protocols
  • Document processes, share knowledge, and support system audits and investigations
To be successful you will have: 
  • Strong skills in OO design, data structures, algorithms, and optimising data pipelines and architectures
  • Experience with microservices, distributed systems, and modern data processing tools
  • Solid understanding of cloud technologies
  • Clear, adaptable communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Proven experience in senior technical roles, acting as a go-to expert for complex issues
  • Strong initiative, adaptability, and a proactive approach with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage team software delivery
  • Excellent team player, with the ability to influence, motivate, and mentor others
  • Independent problem-solving and strong analytical skills for solution design and software development
  • Customer-focused mindset with excellent interpersonal and soft skills, and a strong sense of integrity and security
