Your leadership will have a direct impact on boosting the productivity and maturity of developer teams, while ensuring the platform remains reliable, scalable, and secure
 
Please note this is a Brisbane based role, and we have hybrid working, with two days per week in our beautiful Milton office.  
 
What you'll do
  • Deliver secure, scalable, and efficient technical solutions that maintain platform stability and empower developers to move fast with confidence.
  • Act as a trusted technical leader, guiding and mentoring others while fostering a collaborative, growth-focused team culture, working closely with the Senior Engineering Manager to drive continuous improvement.
What we build 
  • Our Tech stack for this role is in the AWS ecosystem, particularly AWS EKS, MSK, and RDS, with experience in lifecycle automation and scaling.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS, Terraform, Kustomize, and Helm for managing cloud-native infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD workflows using ArgoCD, GitHub Actions, and integration with Vault-based secrets management.
  • Our trading platform needs to be highly scalable to deal with sharp peaks in the market. 
  • As custodians of our customers’ money, security is also a key consideration in how we engineer things. 
  • With over 800,000 customers, we place a lot of emphasis on design and user experience so that our customers can have the easiest-to-use and most trustworthy experience. 
Some of your key responsibilities in this role will include:
  • Lead by example as the senior technical team member across all engineering aspects within your designated squad.
  • Design and maintain scalable, cloud-native AWS infrastructure using Terraform, Terragrunt, Kustomize, and Helm. Automate provisioning, scaling, and monitoring with GitOps and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles.
  • Promote containerization best practices with Kubernetes and Cilium, and design solutions for high availability and efficient storage. Support developers by debugging pipelines, improving workflows, and fostering collaboration to reduce dependency on the platform team.
  • Guide teams on security best practices, ensure compliance in CI/CD pipelines, and maintain platform observability for reliability and performance.
  • Support with planning and allocating work in line with squad deliverables and business priorities.
  • Assist with the growth and development of squad members to build technical and engineering excellence.
  • Work with the Senior Engineering Manager to review squad output and lead the successful delivery of technical solutions that meet objectives.
  • Contribute to the programming and advancement of technical solutions being developed and deployed.
  • Solve technical issues within your own work and the work of the squad, collaborating with other Technical Leads, Engineering Leaders, and key stakeholders to drive efficiency, precision, and innovation.
To be successful you will have:
  • Expertise in the AWS ecosystem, including AWS EKS, MSK, and RDS, with experience in lifecycle automation and scaling.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS, Terraform, Kustomize, and Helm for managing cloud-native infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD workflows using ArgoCD, GitHub Actions, and Vault-based secrets management.
  • Proven ability to identify complex issues and design practical solutions.
  • Experience in a senior technical role, acting as a go-to subject matter expert for complex problems.
  • Strong initiative, adaptability, and a proactive approach to work.

  • Excellent team player with the ability to influence and motivate others.
  • Passion for mentoring and teaching developers to achieve outstanding results.
