Reporting directly to the Deputy General Counsel, you will serve as a cornerstone of our legal team, offering strategic guidance and counsel on a wide spectrum of matters including Australian Financial Services Licensing (AFSL), commercial transactions and regulatory compliance. Your dedication to excellence, penchant for continuous learning, and unwavering commitment to advancing our legal strategies will be invaluable as we navigate through uncharted regulatory waters and drive Swyftx's success. 


Some of your key responsibilities in this role will include: 

  • Oversee legal reviews and provide counsel on Swyftx’s product, marketing, and sales initiatives. 
  • Offer guidance on compliance with evolving regulatory frameworks, including Australian Financial Services Licensing (AFSL) laws. 
  • Review, negotiate, and draft various commercial agreements. 
  • Support the General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel on major projects and corporate initiatives. 
  • Monitor regulatory changes and provide relevant reports to the Executive team. 
  • Drive continuous improvement, scalability, and operational excellence in corporate legal processes and execution. 
To be successful you will have: 
  • Extensive post-qualification experience, ideally from a top-tier law firm or a related in-house environment. 
  • Deep expertise in AFSL law and financial services regulation, gained from private practice or in-house roles. 
  • Proven experience with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF) regulations.  
  • Strong experience in mergers and acquisitions, particularly within financial services or technology-driven industries. 
  • A solid grasp of commercial contracts and regulatory frameworks, with a preference for corporate or technology-focused practice groups. 
  • An ownership mindset, taking accountability end-to-end while knowing when to seek support. 
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, delivering clear, practical advice tailored to diverse stakeholders. 
  • Strong project management and organisational abilities, with meticulous attention to detail.
