Situated in the Victoria River District of the Northern Territory, our client's sprawling 1-million-acre cattle station is seeking a dedicated Domestic Gardener. The station crew comprises up to 25 employees, all who play a vital role in the efficient and organised operations of the well-maintained cattle station.
 
The Role:
 
Reporting to the Station Manager and Assistant Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for caring for the expansive 6-acres of garden surrounding the homestead complex, tending to the citrus orchard, as well as maintaining and servicing guest accommodations. Additionally, they will assist the station cook with cleaning and upkeep tasks as needed.
 
Gardening Responsibilities:

• Care of an expansive lawn area, established trees, garden beds, and a citrus orchard.
• Mowing, edging and hedging using the zero-turn mower, wippa snipper and hedger.
• Moving sprinklers across all lawn areas, using the sprinkler systems, pruning, mulching and fertilising when required.

Domestic Responsibilities:

• Cleaning communal areas and servicing guest quarters/rooms.
• Assisting the cook with general duties, including cleaning inside and outside the kitchen, taking out rubbish, and wiping tables in addition to other general duties as required.
• Assisting to unload the stores truck every fortnight.
• Cleaning office spaces.

Selection Criteria:

• To feel comfortable and self-assured living and working in a very remote area.
• To possess prior experience in fulfilling the responsibilities mentioned above.
• To be comfortable using herbicides and pesticides (a chemical certificate will be well regarded but not essential).
• To maintain a positive attitude towards work and to work well within a team environment.

Particulars & Benefits:

• Accommodation is available for a couple or single within en-suited guest quarters.
• The ability to work as a couple to complete the duties associated with this position (understanding that the wage is designated for one person only).
• The role is a full time / seasonal, 6 days per week.
• The day rate will be by negotiation with our client and will ultimately be based on skill and experience brought to the position.
