A position for a Heavy Diesel Mechanic now exists in the Kimberley region of Western Australia close to Halls Creek. Reporting to the Head Mechanic, the role will be based on one of the cattle company’s stations and will see the successful candidate become part of a team responsible for the efficient servicing, maintenance and repairs of the company’s fleet – both in the workshop and the field.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

To assist with the establishment of the maintenance program for all station vehicles, plant and machinery and to carry out regular servicing, repairs and overhauls as required.
To manage the spare parts inventory by maintaining a record of all parts used and ensuring that commonly required parts are always in stock.
To maintain an efficient and safe workshop.
To train operators to perform daily checks and services and to provide technical support to station staff working on vehicles, plant and machinery.
To supervise apprentices in the absence of the Head Mechanic.

Selection Criteria:

To be trade qualified as a Mechanic or equivalent.
To be capable of executing the maintenance program for all vehicles, plant and machinery including diagnostics and to have the ability to use tools and equipment efficiently and safely.
To have the ability to store and care for components, parts, tools, test and support equipment satisfactorily.
To be capable of maintaining a safe and efficient workshop.
To be capable of providing supervision and training to station staff and operators.
To be able to develop innovative solutions in an isolated environment where the required parts or tools may not be readily available.
To have a current driver’s licence (with a HR and R class viewed favourably).
