Located in the fertile agricultural heartland of Moree, New South Wales, my client's beef cattle feedlot is seeking a Pen Rider to enhance their team. The feedlot & backgrounding operation is home to a herd of Black Angus, Angus Cross, and Wagyu Composite cattle. With profound expertise in both Australian and international markets, this privately-owned feedlot prides itself on unparalleled, localised knowledge across all aspects of beef production, aiming to deliver the finest quality of the Australian beef product.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:
  • Partake in the mustering of backgrounding cattle herds.
  • Daily pen riding / walking, receiving, processing and shipping of cattle.
  • Monitor & identify the health & wellbeing of cattle on a daily basis & attend to health management practices.
  • To monitor feed quality and availability.
  • Ensure the company’s high standard of animal welfare policies are adhered to daily.
  • General feedlot maintenance.
Selection Criteria:
  • Having some livestock experience, particularly within a feedlot environment.
  • To exhibit a robust understanding of livestock management practices and feedlot operations.
  • To practise good horsemanship skills and demonstrate a natural horse handling ability.
  • The ability to carry out a low stress stock handling approach in your daily work.
  • To have sound computer literacy or be willing to learn.
  • Demonstrate a genuine willingness to learn on the job.
  • Maintain good relationships and work well in a team environment.
  • Demonstrate a sense of responsibility to ensure a safe working environment.
Additional Particulars:
  • The roster for this position is 10 on, 4 off.
  • A 5 to 6 weekly farrier service and feed for up to two horses will be available to the successful candidate.
  • Single accommodation is available with shared kitchen & laundry facilities.
  • Remuneration will be by negotiation & based on experience.
