Are you looking for a role that offers hands-on education and training in beef cattle management and horsemanship skills? Consider the Stock Hand position available with my client, who oversees a beef cattle feedlot with a capacity of 10,000 SCU, located just 30 kilometres from Springsure in Central Queensland. Springsure, situated in the Central Highlands district of Queensland, boasts local shops, schools, and medical facilities. It is also conveniently close to Emerald, a larger community hub that serves both the agricultural and mining sectors of central Queensland.
 
Reporting to the Feedlot and Livestock Managers, positions are currently available for LIVESTOCK HANDS to join this small but vibrant team, working on a 10/4 roster.
 
Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Inducting and exiting cattle into and out of the feedlot.
• Moving cattle pens by either pen riding or walking.
• Walking out & monitoring background paddocks.
• Attending to the animal hospital treatments required.
• Data entry into StockAid software.
• General feedlot maintenance.

Selection Criteria:

• General livestock experience (feedlot preferred) and an understanding of animal welfare.
• Computer skills (StockAid beneficial but not essential).
• To have a high attention to detail.
• To have a strong team focus and positive communication skills.

Additional Particulars:

• While those candidates presenting with well-trained stock horses for work will be viewed favourably, this is not essential. A farrier service and feed will be provided for those who choose to bring their own horses.
• Remuneration will be negotiable & based upon experience.
• An immediate start is available.
• Single ensuited accommodation is available.
