A wonderful opportunity awaits a single male or female Farm Hand to join an extensive dryland cropping operation situated west of Goondiwindi and north of Talwood, Queensland. This family-owned farming business is eager to welcome a motivated and eager-to-learn Farm Hand to their team. Ideal candidates should exhibit common sense, present themselves well, possess a genuine interest in cropping and agriculture, and be ready to commit to the role for the foreseeable future.
 
This position offers a hands-on experience with the opportunity to engage in all aspects of farming practices for both rotational summer and winter crop production. The machinery used includes primarily modern John Deere equipment, featuring implements such as an 18m Excel Stubble Warrior planter and a Goldacres and Weed-IT sprayer.
 
Responsibilities will encompass (but are not limited to): 
  • Operating machinery for ground preparation, planting, and harvesting of rotational dryland crops.
  • Performing mechanical tasks as needed.
  • Carrying out general duties related to the maintenance and development of a working cropping property.
  • Engaging in some sheep-related activities.
The ideal candidate for this position: 
  • Should ideally have prior experience in a similar role.
  • Must be enthusiastic about on-the-job training and education, demonstrating a willingness to learn and retain information.
  • Would preferably hold a HR licence (though this is not mandatory).
  • Can expect to work an average of 50 to 60 hours per week.
  • Should exhibit strong work ethics and a dependable attitude.
  • Is encouraged to bring working sheep dogs, understanding that hunting dogs are not allowed on this property.
