Located at the gateway to the Central Highlands community of Emerald, my client's family-run dryland and irrigated farming business employs some of the most advanced and forward-thinking techniques in the industry. Their operation extends across two properties, where the irrigation and broad-acre dryland cropping program includes a diverse range of crops like cotton, mung beans, sorghum, wheat, and chickpeas, and occasionally engages in experimental cropping trials.
 
A position for a Farm Hand is now available, reporting directly to the owner. The successful candidate will benefit from multiple opportunities, including access to modern facilities and equipment, and a fantastic living environment within a well-resourced community that provides a variety of educational, social, shopping, and community services.
 
Key Responsibilities:

• Attending to all aspects of irrigation cropping including syphons, pivots and bankless.
• Machinery operation of GPS equipped tractors.
• Earthmoving work for irrigation purposes.
• Servicing and maintaining plant, equipment and property infrastructure.
• General cropping and property duties as required.

Favourable Attributes:

• Demonstrated work history within a similar position.
• Experience operating, maintaining and servicing modern agricultural machinery and implements.
• GPS experience.
• Chemical accreditation.
• The ability to work autonomously in all areas of a large-scale cropping operation.
• Problem solving skills, attention to detail and the ability to show initiative in everyday work.
• A desire to succeed within the Australian agricultural industry.
• A good attitude in general.
• A desire to positively value-add to this business.
