An opportunity now exists for an Experienced Farm Hand to commence work with our client, a contemporary family-run cropping operation situated a short 17 kilometres west of Condamine, Queensland. Known for its rural charm, and situated along the banks of the Condamine River, this well positioned rural township is located approximately 34 kilometres from Miles, 95 kilometres from Chinchilla, and 230 kilometres from Toowoomba.
 
Covering approximately 9,000 acres of cultivated dryland country, our client operates a diverse cropping operation that prioritises variety and healthy field rotations. The rotational crops include wheat, chickpeas, and barley in the winter, alongside sorghum and mung beans during the summer. The machinery fleet features John Deere tractors and headers outfitted with GreenStar GPS utilising implements such as BOSS 18m planters. Additionally, this farming enterprise encompasses a cattle operation that produces stud stock Herefords and manages a commercial black Angus cow-calf operation, implementing the practice of trading steers during favourable market conditions. The successful candidate will be based on this property at Condamine to work independently for the owners who live on another of the company cropping properties at Drillham, Queensland.
 
Key Responsibilities & Duties

• To responsibly and capably to caretake and work autonomously on the expansive dryland farming property at Condamine on the Western Downs of Queensland.
• To travel between the Condamine and Drillham properties according to seasonal requirements.
• Machinery operating.
• General servicing and repair of machinery in addition to attending to breakdowns.
• At minimal times, cattle work may be required.

Selection Criteria:

• To be an Experienced Farm Hand who is capable of working well autonomously by being self-reliant & capable of working effectively from a list of assigned tasks.
• To have a sharp eye for maintenance and to be capable of carrying out general servicing and repair of machinery in addition to attending to breakdowns.
• An MC licence will be viewed extremely favourably as our client does operate their own trucks for transporting grain and cattle.

Additional Particulars:

• Essentially, the new employee will serve as the caretaker of this property on behalf of the owners.
• A three-bedroom main house on the farm is available for the new employee and their family, along with an additional two-bedroom cottage, both equipped with split-system air conditioning.
• A work ute (used for work purposes only).
• Electricity to the home.
• Remuneration will range between $80,000 - $100,000 / year, negotiable based on experience.

This position is not suitable for those on a working holiday visa.
