Our client owns a large-scale irrigation aggregation located near Emerald, the gateway to Queensland's Central Highlands region. Renowned for its central position, Emerald provides a variety of educational, social, retail, and community services providing for well supported, town & country living.
Spanning approximately 5,000 hectares, our client primarily grows irrigated cotton along with legumes and cereals in a rotational system across two properties within proximity to the Emerald township. Key Responsibilities & Duties - To operate a John Deere and Househam self-propelled spray rigs throughout the company's Emerald based irrigation aggregation.
- To accurately apply recommendations from the Agronomist and Production Manager in terms of fertilisers, herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides.
- To set up, operate, and maintain machinery and equipment.
- Attend to mechanical servicing and repairs as needed.
- Prioritise daily tasks as directed by the Farm Operations Manager.
- Understand and implement best safety practices.
- Contribute to the Cotton Industry's "Best Management Practices" program.
Selection Criteria: - Previous experience required with a prior 2 years of spraying experience.
- Strong practical knowledge in general farm work, including irrigation, tractors, harvesting equipment, spraying, pumps, and machinery
- Understanding of the annual cropping program aimed at achieving optimal yield results
- Familiarity with optical sprayers and experience with John Deere and Househam self-propelled sprayers.
- Proficiency in using cropping GPS systems.
- Chemcert accreditation or an ACDC Chemical Applicators license.
- Knowledge of chemical groups and familiarity with mixing, batching, and how weather conditions impact crop spraying.
- Prior experience with row crops & broadacre cropping.
- A sound mechanical skill set is essential.
- A current driver’s licence & own transport.
- The successful candidate must be self-motivated.
