A position now exists for a Farm Hand to commence work on a property located within a 20-minute drive of Tully in North Queensland. Directly positioned halfway between Cairns and Townsville, Tully is a rural township largely dominated by its agricultural industry and offering many community services, educational opportunities and shopping facilities catering for its rural population. The property produces sugar cane, watermelons and beef cattle.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Machinery Operating: tractors & implements for the cane property, along with tractor attached spray rigs and fertiliser carts. A fleet of mixed machinery with Trimble GPS technology is utilised as is earthmoving equipment such as dozers, excavators, and laser buckets.
  • Maintenance Work: during the wet season, a majority of the maintenance work is carried out consisting of machinery mechanical maintenance and general workshop work such as welding and fabrications.
Requirements:
  • While a great degree of previous experience isn’t required, it is expected that applicants have some agricultural experience to offer the role.
  • Training will be provided, and it’s expected in return that the successful applicant is very willing to learn and be reliable within their employment.
  • The successful candidate must hold a current driver’s licence.
Accommodation & Wages:
  • Rental accommodation would be available in nearby Tully, and our client has indicated that rental assistance would be available by negotiation.
  • The remuneration for this position will be negotiable and based upon experience.
  • Work for a partner on a part time basis would be available for machinery operating as required in peak periods.
