On behalf of our client, AusAG Rural is now accepting applications for the position of Assistant Manager – a position that requires fulfilment in order to support the owners of a diversified dryland farming and cotton irrigation property located within the border river region of Mungindi, New South Wales.
 
The privately owned and operated farming company offers the successful candidate certain variety within the position between farming 2,500 hectares of rotational dryland crops, 920-hectares of irrigation country and a beef breeding herd of 500 head plus progeny. The Assistant Manager’s role is a working, hands-on position that would ideally suit a candidate who has previous dryland and irrigated cotton experience and who has capably managed a small team of staff.
 
Working closely with and reporting to the property owners, the Assistant Cropping Manager’s duties will incorporate but not be limited to:
  • Coordinate and implement an effective crop production plan.
  • To confidently coordinate, manage and carry out the entire end-to-end cropping cycle of both dryland and irrigated crops.
  • To operate farming machinery, plant, and equipment.
  • To bring a maintenance skill set to the position and provide mechanical support to the company.
  • Management and supervision of a small team of staff and coordination of contractors as required.
  • To provide management support at any time the owners may be absent.
  • To be mindful of best farm practices in relation to workplace health and safety.
Essential Requirements:
  • Previous and extensive broad acre cropping experience in addition to cotton irrigation.
  • Machinery operating and maintenance support experience.
  • To have the ability to effectively manage staff in order to achieve optimal outcomes of your team.
  • To have a flexible approach to your work and to demonstrate reliability when it comes to peak production periods on farm.
  • To provide this farming company with an employee that has a positive outlook, willing attitude and the ability to commit to the position for the long term.
  • To hold or be willing to obtain a current chemical certificate.
  • A current open, manual driver’s licence.
