Design Manager

Circa $150k - $180k + Super (Negotiable for the right candidate)

A well-regarded NSW builder is seeking a commercially astute Design Manager to join its head office team in Pymble.

This is a front-end-focused role responsible for driving design development, value engineering, and authority approvals (DA & CC) before handing projects over to delivery.

Importantly, they are open to speaking with experienced Architects who are ready to step into a contractor-side Design Management role — provided you understand programme, buildability, risk and cost, not just design intent.

The Opportunity
You will take ownership of design management from initial client briefing through to construction handover, including:

• Managing consultant engagement and client brief confirmation
• Leading and monitoring design programmes
• Driving value engineering and buildability reviews
• Navigating NSW DA and CC approval pathways
• Ensuring compliance with the NSW Design and Building Practitioners Act
• Supporting estimating with cost planning and risk identification
• Acting as the key design contact during delivery

You'll sit at the centre of client, consultant and internal project teams — ensuring documentation is coordinated, compliant and commercially aligned before it hits site.

  OR
• A Senior Architect with strong exposure to contractor environments, D&C delivery and consultant coordination

You will bring:

• Experience across Aged Care, Education or Social Infrastructure projects
• Strong understanding of NSW DA / CC processes
• Working knowledge of the Design and Building Practitioners Act (NSW) and compliance requirements
• Commercial awareness — understanding time, cost and risk implications of design decisions
• Confidence to chair meetings, challenge consultants and drive outcomes

Salary is positioned circa $150k-$170k + Super, with flexibility depending on level of experience.
