A well-established, privately owned commercial builder is seeking an experienced Project Director/Construction Manager to join the business and support strategic growth, team development, and hiring. 

The company currently operates with lean, capable project teams and is seeking to appoint a senior delivery leader to oversee multiple projects ($2m to $30m), mentor teams, and help shape the next phase of the business.

This is a genuine leadership role with influence — not just a bigger PM title.

The Role: Reporting directly to the Director, you will take responsibility for the overall delivery, commercial performance, and leadership of multiple projects, while supporting and developing Project Managers, Contract Administrators, Site Managers, and Project Coordinators.
You will remain hands-on where required, while also providing the structure, oversight and decision-making expected at a senior level.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the delivery of multiple commercial construction projects.
  • Provide senior oversight of programme, cost, quality, safety and risk.
  • Mentor and support PMs, CAs, Site Managers and Project Coordinators.
  • Oversee commercial performance, forecasting, variations and risk management.
  • Act as a senior point of contact for clients, consultants and key stakeholders.
  • Step in to resolve complex delivery, sequencing or commercial issues.
  • Improve consistency in systems, reporting and delivery standards.
  • Support pre-construction planning, methodology and risk reviews.
  • Assist the Director with team structure, resourcing and future growth planning. 
About You
  • Proven experience as a Senior Project Manager, PD or Construction Manager.
  • Strong background in commercial or mixed-use construction.
  • Comfortable overseeing multiple projects and teams.
  • Commercially astute, calm under pressure, and solutions-focused.
  • A respected leader who can guide teams rather than micromanage.
  • Enjoys working in a hands-on, owner-led environment.
