About the Role: 
Our 12-month internship, starting in the month of March 2026, is structured to provide practical experience in and advance your knowledge of small animal surgery. This is suitable for those who are considering undertaking eventual residency training.

As a Surgery Intern, you will assist a team of specialist surgeons with diagnosis, surgical treatment, and post operative care of surgical patients.  The surgery department will be resourced with state-of-the-art surgical equipment and brand-new theatres. Imaging is of the highest standard with digital radiology, MRI, CT, fluoroscopy, and ultrasound all readily available. You will be further supported by our specialist radiology and anaesthesia teams.
You will play a pivotal role in daily rounds and client communication. Assistance in preparation towards membership of the ANZCVS and research support is also available.

About you:
We are looking for a passionate vet who can work independently with a reliable, adaptable, and proactive approach to their work. You will have the following skills:
  • A keen interest in surgery with a desire to work closely with our patients throughout their entire SASH journey
  • An ability to manage and prioritise tasks effectively
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Confidence working in an extremely busy environment
  • A Degree in Veterinary Science or Veterinary Medicine registrable in NSW
  • A minimum of 1 year of full-time experience as a vet
  • Desirable: Completed a rotating internship
