Surgery Nurse

At SASH we are seeking a Surgery Nurse to join our Sunshine Coast team, playing a vital role in ensuring that each and every surgical procedure runs as smoothly and efficiently as possible whilst continuing to provide expert supportive care to our patients.
SASH Sunshine Coast is a purpose-built veterinary referral hospital offering 5 days a week specialist surgery, including mobile services available to Far North Queensland!

Who are we looking for?
  • Minimum Certificate IV in veterinary nursing and/or BAppSc (Veterinary Technology) degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years nursing experience in a referral (specialist hospital), or a busy general practice
  • Experience, or a strong interest in specialist surgical nursing
  • Sound knowledge and experience in anaesthesia, correct terminology, and critical care patients.
  • Understanding of surgical procedures, aseptic techniques, and sterile preparation.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple cases in a day and prioritising tasks
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively
    with a diverse team
  • A commitment to delivering the highest standard of patient care and client service

Desirable Attributes

  • Sound knowledge of instrument and surgical equipment care, cleaning and sterilization
  • Knowledge of Ezyvet, VetRadar/Smartflow and Idexx blood machines but not essential
  • Experience in advanced anaesthesia is desirable but not essential. A training program will be developed for the right person to support their ongoing learning and development.
