Medicine Team Leader


SASH Central Coast is now seeking a Team Leader to join the Medicine team, who will be responsible for actively managing the effective and efficient day-to-day running of the medicine department whilst providing leadership in the delivery of best practice clinical standards and service delivery.

As are a key player in our leadership team you will be responsible for:

  • Provide Leadership & Mentorship – Guide and support nursing staff, fostering a culture of encouragement to aspire to excellent patient care. Facilitate training programs, coaching and mentorships for both team and individual development

  • Team Support & Cohesion - Create a reliable and encouraging environment, boosting morale and motivation ensuring the team is cohesive in nature to enable efficiency and gold standard patient care.

  • Oversee Patient Care Standards – Ensure all patients receive the highest level of care and attention. Proactivity lead and promote new innovations for the team aiming to be at the forefront of medical procedures & patient care.

  • Manage Nursing Operations – Oversee daily workflow, staffing, hospital protocols, adherence to hygiene policies and SASH regulations, and regular team meetings are scheduled to encourage collaboration.

  • Collaborate with Internal Teams – Work closely with vets and allied health professionals to enhance patient outcomes, facilitating team collaboration & meetings to ensure communication is paramount between the nursing & veterinary team.

Who are we looking for:

  • Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing – Qualified in patient care, surgical assistance, and veterinary procedures.
  • 4+ Years’ Experience referral nursing – Skilled in advanced anaesthesia and patient monitoring.
  • Leadership Experience – Proven ability to manage, mentor, and support a veterinary team in a previous role
  • Strong Communication Skills – Clear written and verbal interactions with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Time Management – Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities professionally.
  • Problem-Solving – Adaptability in resolving challenges and managing competing demands efficiently
