About the role
We are looking for a Senior Project Engineer with proven experience in hydropower and water resources engineering, providing technical advice across a broad and diverse portfolio of dams, intake and outlet structures, flow control equipment and civil structural assets.
  
To be successful in this role, you will have experience working with stakeholders, strong communication skills, a collaborative leadership style, and a comprehensive understanding of the scoping and execution of dam safety projects. 
  
The role's purpose is to lead dam safety investigations that resolve identified issues, providing technical expertise for the scoping and execution of complex dam strengthening and remediation projects. This will ensure our assets are designed, constructed, operated, maintained, and enhanced to optimise business outcomes and make risk-informed decisions. 
  
The Senior Project Engineer will deliver this by:
  • Providing core technical and specialist advice to ensure that the scoping and execution of deficiency projects are aligned with good industry practice in collaboration with key business stakeholders.
  • Leading the identification of solutions to address identified issues and deficiencies.
  • Developing work scopes to address the highest-risk items in the portfolio.
  • Support improvements to the dam safety management system; dam safety deficiency programme and associated governance and reporting requirements.
  • Deliver, encourage, and receive open and honest feedback in line with Manawa Energy's feedback culture.
  
What we are looking for:
  • Relevant degree in professional engineering (Civil, Mechanical or Electrical) or equivalent.
  • Through understanding of dam safety issues and deficiencies.
  • Understanding the NZ Dam Safety Guidelines (NZSOLD) and NZ Dam Safety Regulations.
  • Minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience working in dam safety or water resources.
  • Project delivery experience preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Communicates and networks effectively.
