Our client owns and operates two intensive farming operations with one based near Moss Vale and covers 4,500 ha and the other being 3,200 ha of mixed farming with a focus on prime lamb production in the Cootamundra area.

A station hand position has become available on the Cootamundra property and will work alongside a newly appointed Manager along with one other fulltime station hand. The property breeds and finishes up to 10,000 prime lambs annually from a Prime line maternal breeding programme, with some being crossed with Dorset’s to supply the top-end boxed lamb markets. They have commenced a dual-purpose Merino breeding programme and also run approximately 500 steers, and some lambs from the Southern highland’s property are finished on this property.  
Up to 1,000 Ha is cropped with winter grazing cereals and canola and there is a large area of established lucerne. Crops are grown on a rotation readying paddocks for pasture renovation and are intensively grazed. The property is very well set up with central laneway to all paddocks with 4 sets of yards and 3 shearing sheds, all watering is via a reticulation system which is monitored electronically by Station Innovation (Eco Sat). Contractors are utilised for shearing, crutching, scanning, harvesting and hay baling.   Reporting to the Manager, you will work well in a team, have a positive attitude, a passion for agriculture, and take pride in your presentation and work. The successful applicant will also possess the following attributes –
  • Confident in operating machinery and ability to service and maintain vehicles and machinery.
  • Knowledge of pastures and cropping systems.
  • Be an effective communicator, experience using AgriWebb is advantageous.
  • Must have a team of working dogs.
  • Possess a good range of practical skills.
  • Heavy Rigid Truck license or be willing and able to obtain one.
  • Hold a current Chemical User’s certificate
