Principal Structural Engineer

Fantastic opportunity for a Principal Structural Engineer to join an established engineering consultancy seeking to expand their reach in Perth.

Joining a privately owned consultancy that are making fantastic inroads in the engineering sector, you will be working on landmark high-rise and mixed use buildings alongside a highly capable team of engineers.

The team are seeking a Lead engineer to manage a team of 20+ staff in Perth where they provide agile outcomes to clients by providing technically excellent solutions.

This role is suited to a highly capable professional with a strong technical background, proven leadership in structural and/or civil engineering, and deep knowledge of the Australian D&C market. You will be responsible for overseeing design quality, managing projects and people, and maintaining a strong, positive team culture.

This is a strategic hire seeking to find an experienced engineer with ambitions to become a principal engineer/team manager or for a proven business leader currently working for a Tier 1 consultancy who is looking for a change of environment.

Key Requirements

- Minimum 10 years of experience leading engineering teams
- At least 5 years of experience working in Australia
- Strong structural or civil engineering background with project delivery capability
- Deep understanding of the Design & Construct (D&C) delivery model
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare and review schematic designs produced by the Perth office
- Lead and manage your own projects, particularly in early phases
- Supervise and support principals and senior engineers in project execution
- Oversee financial performance and project budgets
- Ensure QA/QC compliance across all project stages
- Undertake high-level design and verification to ensure technical excellence
- Review drawings at critical milestones to ensure design intent and constructability
- Lead resource and workload planning across the team
- Manage and resolve complex project challenges and coordination issues
- Maintain strong client relationships and support business development
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance team culture
- Oversee team development, mentoring, and office-level leadership
