We are seeking an experienced Fabrication Manager in Queensland to oversee a busy pre-fabrication facility, leading project delivery, production operations, quality, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader with strong manufacturing and project management experience to make a significant impact.
About the Role Reporting to senior management, you will be responsible for leading a team of Project Engineers, Supervisors, Coordinators, Quality personnel, and fabrication staff to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary fabrication and project team.
- Drive a strong safety-first culture across the facility.
- Manage fabrication operations to ensure production targets are achieved.
- Oversee project delivery from planning through to completion.
- Monitor project timelines, budgets, resources, and customer requirements.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing plans.
- Coordinate with Procurement, Logistics, Customer Service, Sales, and other internal stakeholders.
- Champion continuous improvement, Lean Manufacturing, and 5S initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with quality, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and suppliers.
- Lead performance management, coaching, and employee development initiatives.
About You To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Proven leadership experience within a fabrication, manufacturing, heavy industrial, or production environment.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a management or leadership position.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and project delivery.
- Ability to interpret technical and engineering drawings.
- Excellent people leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and business reporting capability.
- Experience driving operational excellence and continuous improvement programs.
- High-level problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems such as SAP.
- Engineering, Manufacturing, or Business qualifications highly regarded.
