About the opportunity
A Desktop Estimator is required to prepare accurate repair estimates and scopes for insurance building projects. Working from reports, photos, plans and supporting documentation, you will produce compliant estimates and assist the delivery team with variations and cost reviews.
Key responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed desktop estimates and scopes for insurance repair and reinstatement works.
  • Review assessor reports, photos, plans, trade reports and client instructions.
  • Apply current labour, material and subcontractor rates to produce accurate costings.
  • Identify scope gaps, exclusions, risks and required supporting information.
  • Prepare variations, revised estimates and cost reviews as projects progress.
  • Liaise with assessors, supervisors, coordinators, clients and subcontractors to clarify requirements.
  • Maintain accurate estimating notes, documentation and system records.
  • Meet client service levels, turnaround times and quality requirements.
About you
  • Previous estimating experience within insurance building, residential construction, restoration or maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret scopes, reports, plans, photos and technical information.
  • Sound understanding of residential construction methods, trades and repair costs.
  • Strong numerical ability, attention to detail and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of estimates and deadlines.
  • Experience with estimating or insurance claim management software is advantageous.
  • Trade, estimating or construction qualifications are highly regarded.
