A well-established insurance building and restoration business is seeking an experienced
Estimating Team Lead to join its Queensland team.
This role is ideal for a senior estimator or estimating leader who enjoys balancing technical estimating, team leadership, commercial oversight and process improvement.
You will lead a team of estimators to deliver accurate, competitive and compliant estimates while supporting project delivery, supplier relationships, service standards and internal performance targets.
About the Role
As Estimating Team Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day estimating activity across a busy insurance repair and restoration environment.
You will support and mentor the estimating team, review estimate quality, assist with costings and scopes, manage supplier and trade pricing, and work closely with construction and operations teams to ensure work is priced accurately and handed over effectively.
This is a leadership role suited to someone who is technically strong, commercially aware and confident managing people, priorities and deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, support and mentor a team of estimators
- Review estimates for accuracy, compliance and commercial suitability
- Prepare and oversee costings, scopes of work and repair estimates
- Support the team with technical queries, pricing issues and complex claims
- Ensure estimates are completed within required timeframes and service standards
- Monitor team performance, KPIs and workflow
- Maintain supplier agreements, pricing schedules and subcontractor relationships
- Work closely with construction and operations teams around project delivery requirements
- Assist with cost reviews, variations, scope clarifications and estimate adjustments
- Identify process improvements across estimating systems, templates and workflows
- Ensure documentation is clear, accurate and suitable for insurer and client requirements
- Build strong relationships with internal teams, suppliers, trades and key stakeholders
About You
You will be an experienced estimator with strong insurance repair, restoration or construction knowledge, along with the ability to guide and support a team.
You will bring:
- Proven experience in estimating within construction, insurance building repairs or restoration
- Previous leadership, team lead or mentoring experience
- Strong understanding of scopes of work, trade pricing and supplier agreements
- Ability to review and improve estimate quality and commercial outcomes
- Strong knowledge of subcontractor pricing, repair methodology and project cost control
- Excellent communication skills and confidence dealing with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities
- Commercial awareness and a practical problem-solving mindset
- High attention to detail and strong documentation skills
- Confidence using estimating systems, portals and Microsoft Office
- Current Australian driver's licence
- Construction White Card highly regarded
