Quantity Surveyor – Structural Steel
A growing structural steel contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support a strong pipeline of major projects across SA, VIC and NSW.
This is a key, variations-focused role within the business, created to bring dedicated commercial oversight to a high volume of live projects nationwide. Currently, variations are being handled by estimators, however there is a clear gap for an experienced QS to take ownership and drive consistency across the board.
The role You will work closely with estimators, project teams and senior leadership, with a primary focus on managing variations, cost control and commercial performance across multiple projects. You will have exposure to large-scale structural steel packages across infrastructure, transport, aviation and defence projects.
Key responsibilities - Take ownership of variations management across multiple projects nationally
- Prepare, assess and negotiate variations, progress claims and final accounts
- Monitor project costs, budgets, forecasts and cash flow
- Review contracts and identify commercial risks and opportunities
- Support procurement and subcontractor management processes
- Work closely with estimating, delivery and manufacturing teams
- Contribute to overall commercial strategy across the project portfolio
What we’re looking for - Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Contract Administrator
- Strong structural steel experience, ideally on large-scale projects
- Background working for a contractor or consultancy environment (both considered)
- Experience working with subcontractors and managing downstream packages
- Strong understanding of variations, claims and contract commercialisation
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and projects simultaneously
- Commercially sharp, organised and proactive
Why consider it - Rare opportunity to step into a dedicated QS/variations role within structural steel
- Strong pipeline of national projects across multiple sectors
- Opportunity to play a key role in improving commercial processes within the business
- Adelaide-based role with exposure to major interstate projects
- In the current Adelaide market, QS professionals with genuine structural steel experience are limited, making this a high-impact opportunity
