Cost Manager – Major Civil Infrastructure Program

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Cost Manager to join a major large‑scale civil infrastructure project, supporting the delivery of a complex, high‑value program.

This is a central role within the project, with ownership of overall cost control, budget reporting and financial performance. You will support the broader project team by providing clear insight into cost and financial impacts across a wide range of activities, guiding informed decision‑making around budget position, expenditure, cost performance and cash flow.

Working closely with the Head of Commercial, the wider project team and contractor stakeholders, this role plays a key part in managing productivity, progress claims and commercial outcomes in a demanding delivery environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and analyse monthly contractor progress payment claims in line with actual progress
  • Prepare draft monthly contractor payment certificates
  • Compile and maintain monthly cost forecasts across the full project scope, including contractor and Principal costs
  • Provide clear commentary on cost movements, variances, and changes to budget or program
  • Analyse and assess submitted variation costs
  • Prepare cost estimates for options analysis, variation proposals and scenario impacts
  • Develop and manage detailed cash flow forecasts in conjunction with the commercial team, including analysis of cash movements
About You To succeed in this role, you will ideally have:
  • Substantial experience delivering on large civil or infrastructure projects from a Quantity Surveying or Cost Engineering background
  • Demonstrated experience in budget control, cost forecasting, estimating and cash flow management
  • Strong understanding of cost drivers within major earthworks or civil infrastructure projects
  • Knowledge of project overheads, design costs and personnel costs
  • Contractor‑side experience is beneficial
  • Proven ability to support the client / Principal function within a Design & Construct (D&C) environment
