The Role

We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Contract / Commercial Manager (Design & Construct) to join a major capital delivery environment, supporting a large‑scale, nationally significant infrastructure program, including a major runway delivery project.

This role is the central point of administration and governance for the Main Works D&C Contract, ensuring all contractual obligations, processes and decisions are executed strictly in accordance with the contract. Reporting to the Head of Commercial, the role provides critical commercial assurance—protecting the Principal’s contractual position while supporting effective project delivery.

The Role As Commercial Manager, you will:

• Act as the primary interface for all contractual correspondence, submissions and notices between the Principal and the Contractor
• Ensure the D&C Contract is administered in strict accordance with agreed rights, obligations and timeframes
• Provide assurance that all determinations, approvals, instructions and decisions are being made in accordance with the contract (rather than making those determinations yourself)
• Review, advise on and coordinate responses to contractual claims, variations and notices
• Oversee compliance with the Contract Administration Manual and Security of Payment obligations
• Manage and verify the Monthly Progress Payment process
• Act as the Principal’s Representative when authorised
• Liaise closely with delivery teams to ensure site operations remain contractually compliant, escalating risks where required
• Provide reporting, governance inputs and commercial assurance support to internal stakeholders

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure all contractual processes, correspondence and submissions are managed within prescribed timeframes
• Proactively minimise commercial and contractual risk to the Principal
• Review contractor claims, notices and variations, providing clear and defensible commercial advice
• Monitor implementation of the Principal’s contractual obligations
• Support governance, reporting and internal assurance frameworks
• Work collaboratively with Legal, Commercial, Insurance, Risk and Delivery teams

About You You will bring:

• Proven experience as a Commercial Manager or Senior Contract Administrator within Design & Construct environments
• Strong working knowledge of AS4000‑series D&C contracts
• Experience on major infrastructure or multi‑billion‑dollar projects
• A commercial or legal background (formal legal qualifications not required)
• Strong commercial judgement and comfort operating in complex, high‑governance environments
• A collaborative, detail‑driven approach aligned to high‑performance team cultures
