Our Client is an established meat processing and export business that has been operating for over 10 years in Melbourne. They are seeking a Health and Safety Officer to join their team and help grow their safety division and drive a positive safety culture.

Purpose:

The Safety Officer will report to the Human Resources Manager and work alongside the QA team, Department Leaders, and production team. Provide health and safety advice, onboard employees, keep an updated training matrix, conduct RCA, and review and update policies and procedures.
 
Responsibilities:

• Provide safety support and advice to the operational team.
• Complete safety walk-throughs and activity based conversations. 
• Ensure employee onboarding and inductions are completed and updated.
• Conduct on-the-spot checks for PPE, SDS’s and equipment.
• Support the leadership team to implement safety initiatives.
• Assist in managing return-to-work plans and capacity planning.
• Run investigations for incidents and injuries.
• Provide immediate first-aid, when required.

Requirements:
**Please note that you will require a Q-Fever vaccination**

• Minimum of three years of experience in a Safety Officer position.
• Experience in an abattoir, meat processing, or food production facility.
• Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (BSB41419).
• Return to Work Coordinator Certificate (beneficial).
• Current first aid certificate and CPR.
• Experience in running or assisting with investigations and risk assessments.
• Go-getter attitude with an eye for detail.
