Website Developer

We are seeking an experienced Website Developer to design, build, and maintain a government website.  This role will support a high-profile public-facing website that acts as a central hub for information, stakeholder engagement, and public communication.

Working within a government environment, you will lead the technical development and ongoing management of the website, ensuring compliance with Australian Government digital standards for security, accessibility, and performance.


Key responsibilities
Technical development
  • Build, configure, and maintain websites using Drupal within the GovCMS platform
  • Apply GovCMS tools, templates, and modules in line with best practice
  • Ensure compliance with Australian Government digital standards, including accessibility (WCAG), security, and performance requirements
  • Liaise with GovCMS for platform support, guidance, and training as required
Content management
  • Edit, publish, and manage web content within GovCMS
  • Ensure content is accessible, user-friendly, and aligned to approved standards
  • Work with stakeholders to gather, refine, and validate content prior to publication
Stakeholder engagement
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand content priorities and delivery timelines
  • Collaborate with GovCMS and other stakeholders to ensure ongoing compliance and site quality
  • Provide advice on website structure, usability, and content presentation
About you
You are a capable and detail-oriented Website Developer with hands-on experience delivering compliant, user-focused websites within structured environments. You are comfortable working with stakeholders, managing content workflows, and ensuring high standards of accessibility and governance.


Key skills and experience
  • Proven experience developing and maintaining websites using GovCMS and Drupal
  • Strong understanding of Australian Government digital standards, including accessibility and security
  • Experience managing web content and publishing workflows
  • Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders and technical support teams
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality outcomes

Desirable

  • Experience working in a Queensland Government or broader government environment
  • Familiarity with public sector governance, compliance, and approval processes
