About the Role
We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Import Product Manager to lead the end-to-end import process, from identifying global sourcing opportunities to ensuring product compliance, managing logistics, and supporting brand development. This critical role will be integral to the Group’s commercial growth and supply chain excellence.
   
Key Responsibilities
  • Product Identification & Evaluation
    Partner with commercial teams to assess cost-effective import opportunities and support new product category growth. Conduct comparative analysis between domestic and imported options and verify alignment with technical and compliance standards (AU/NZ, WELS, Modern Slavery, etc.)
  • Supplier Identification & Management
    Engage international manufacturers, conduct factory assessments, nurture strong vendor relationships, and negotiate favorable terms and quality requirements.
  • Product Development & Feedback
    Capture customer and performance feedback to drive improvements or new product development. Deliver product training to General and Branch Managers across regions.
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance
    Ensure imported products meet Australian and international standards. Oversee pre- and post-shipment inspections including third-party QA testing, and maintain compliance records.
  • Inventory & Logistics Management
    Oversee inventory across Riverview and PinkRiver warehouses, manage lead times, customs clearance, and broader logistics operations. Lead group buys and develop supply continuity strategies.
  • Commercial Oversight
    Establish pricing aligned with margin targets, manage warranties/claims, and develop financial models for landed cost, TCO (Total Cost of Ownership), and ROI.
  • Team Leadership
    Lead the Riverview warehousing team with effective rostering, training, performance reviews, and succession planning. Foster a culture of safety and accountability.
  • Reporting & Communication
    Provide regular updates to the Group COO and stakeholders on key performance metrics. Collaborate with training and marketing teams to educate internal audiences on new products and compliance.
  • Legal & Regulatory Awareness
    Stay abreast of international trade regulations, tariffs, and import/export compliance. Liaise with customs brokers and freight providers.
  • Brand Development & Marketing Collaboration
    Work with Marketing to support the launch of their local house brand for imported products. Assist in branding, packaging, technical data sheets, and promotional materials.
Skills & Abilities
  • Readiness to travel internationally at short notice.
  • Proven experience in international sourcing, supplier negotiation, and contract management.
  • Deep understanding of QA/QC, compliance standards, and Australian regulatory frameworks.
  • Background in Electrical supplies preferred, experience in Plumbing supplies advantageous.
