Residential Care Worker

About the Role

As a Residential Care Worker at Kanda in Bowen, you’ll support a sibling group of young children aged 2–10 years in a warm, nurturing home environment. This role is ideal for people who are passionate about early childhood development, attachment, and helping young children feel safe, supported and cared for.
You’ll play an important role in providing stability, routine and positive experiences that support each child’s emotional wellbeing, development and sense of belonging.
  
What You’ll Be Doing
  • Provide hands-on care and supervision in a safe, family-style home
  • Support young children with daily routines such as meals, bedtime, play and self-care
  • Encourage learning, social skills and emotional regulation through age-appropriate activities
  • Help children reach their individual goals through personalised care plans
  • Build strong, trusting relationships through consistency, patience and nurturing support
  • Maintain accurate and professional documentation to support high-quality care

What You’ll Need
  • A current driver’s licence (minimum P2)
  • A Working with Children Blue Card and NDIS Worker Screening Check (or eligibility to obtain them)
  • Either hold, or be willing to enrol in, a Certificate IV or Diploma in a relevant field
  • Previous experience (youth work, disability, mental health, aged care, childcare) is helpful but not required - your commitment to learning is what matters.
