Principal-level SAP BTP, AI & ABAP Architect to help shape technical strategy, lead solution design and deliver innovative outcomes for major Australian organisations.
This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of SAP architecture, cloud engineering and AI, with the scope to influence technical direction while remaining closely involved in hands-on development.
The opportunity You’ll play a key role in designing and delivering contemporary SAP solutions, helping organisations extend their SAP landscapes, adopt AI capabilities and modernise existing applications in line with clean-core principles.
Combining architecture, engineering leadership and client engagement, you’ll work with technical teams and business stakeholders to turn ideas into practical solutions that deliver measurable value.
Key responsibilities - Define solution architectures and technology roadmaps across SAP BTP, AI, integration and application development.
- Design scalable extensions and integrations that align with SAP clean-core principles.
- Evaluate existing ABAP applications and recommend opportunities to retain, optimise or modernise functionality using SAP BTP.
- Identify business use cases for generative AI and develop solutions that address real operational challenges.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership, review code and solution designs, and establish engineering best practices.
- Facilitate client workshops to understand requirements and communicate architecture options and recommendations.
- Contribute to pre-sales activities, including technical discovery, solution proposals, effort estimates and presentations.
- Coach and mentor developers while helping strengthen the organisation’s broader BTP and AI capability.
About you You’re an experienced SAP architect with a strong software engineering background, sound architectural judgement and the ability to engage confidently with both technical and business stakeholders.
You’ll ideally bring:
- 10+ years of relevant technical experience across software development, solution architecture and technical leadership, including substantial SAP experience.
- Demonstrated experience designing and personally developing SAP BTP applications in client environments.
- Strong knowledge of SAP BTP application development, cloud architecture and integration.
- Practical experience with SAP AI Core and/or generative AI technologies, including applying them to business solutions.
- A solid ABAP development background and a strong understanding of SAP extensibility and clean-core strategies.
- Experience with modern development languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, Java or Python.
- The ability to translate business needs into robust technical designs and guide delivery teams through implementation.
- Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and client-facing consulting skills.
- Experience mentoring technical teams and taking ownership of solution quality and delivery outcomes.
