Our client is seeking a highly capable
SAP Payroll Consultant with a minimum
5+ years of hands-on SAP Payroll or Employee Central Payroll configuration experience. This is a genuine configuration and implementation role - we’re looking for someone who understands what happens under the hood, not simply someone who runs or tests payroll processes.
You’ll bring strong technical knowledge of SAP Payroll architecture, together with the ability to translate complex payroll and business requirements into robust, scalable configuration solutions.
About the Role You’ll play a key role in designing, configuring, implementing and supporting SAP Payroll solutions across Australian and New Zealand requirements.
Your responsibilities will include: - Designing, configuring and maintaining SAP Payroll schemas, subschemas, rules (PCRs) and wage types
- Building and maintaining end-to-end payroll processing structures from scratch, including schema architecture and processing logic
- Designing and implementing time evaluation configurations and integrating results into payroll processing
- Configuring pay scale structures, organisational management integration and off-cycle processing
- Using schemas, counters, cumulators and notional wage types to automate and manage complex payroll processes
- Troubleshooting complex payroll issues through detailed schema- and rule-level analysis
- Diagnosing payroll calculation discrepancies and optimising existing configuration for accuracy, efficiency and stability
- Supporting timely and accurate payroll processing
- Working directly with clients to understand payroll and HR requirements
- Translating business requirements into appropriate SAP Payroll configuration and solution designs
- Collaborating with payroll teams, business stakeholders and implementation partners
- Clearly explaining schema logic, system behaviour, configuration decisions and outcomes to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
About You You’ll be an experienced SAP Payroll professional who can confidently explain
how and why a payroll system works, not just what buttons to press.
To be successful, you’ll have: - 5+ years’ experience configuring SAP Payroll or Employee Central Payroll
- Demonstrated experience building SAP Payroll systems from the ground up
- Strong understanding of SAP Payroll architecture, including schemas, PCRs, wage types, counters and cumulators
- The ability to trace payroll processing from inputs, through configuration and calculations, to final payroll results
- Experience designing solutions for complex business processes involving multiple steps, handoffs, checks and validations
- Strong understanding of payroll and business requirements, with the ability to translate these into tailored configuration solutions
- Experience across multiple SAP Payroll implementations
- Understanding of Payroll-to-Finance integration
- Exposure to SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central integration
- Experience with SAP HCM and HR data migration
- Experience with Australian and/or New Zealand payroll requirements
- Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills
- A degree in a relevant field
- SAP certification in Central Payroll, SAP HR/Payroll (ECC6), or SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Core would be advantageous
What Will Set You Apart We’re particularly interested in candidates who can sit down with a client or project team and confidently walk through:
What goes into payroll → how the schema processes it → which rules and wage types are triggered → how calculations are performed → how exceptions are handled → and how the final payroll result is produced. If you enjoy solving complex payroll problems through thoughtful configuration and have built SAP Payroll solutions rather than simply operated them, this could be an excellent opportunity.
Apply Now If you’re an experienced
SAP Payroll Consultant looking for a role where your configuration expertise will make a genuine impact, we’d love to hear from you.
