Trading Analyst – Sports Trading & Risk Build the Australian Trading Function | Sydney Or Melbourne
An established international sports research and technology
business is expanding its presence in Australia and is looking for an experienced Trading Analyst to join its growing team.
This is an opportunity to join the business at an early stage of its Australian expansion and play an important role in establishing and developing its local trading capability.
Rather than joining a large, established trading floor where you'll be one of many, you'll have the opportunity to take ownership, contribute ideas and help shape how the Australian function develops.
You'll be responsible for monitoring and managing sports markets across pre-match and live events, ensuring pricing, exposure and execution remain accurate as markets move.
We're looking for someone with genuine sportsbook trading experience who understands how to manage markets, customer betting activity and financial exposure in real time.
What you'll be doing: - Monitor pre-match and in-play sports markets in real time.
- Review market movements and react to significant changes in pricing.
- Monitor external reference markets and pricing feeds.
- Assess the impact of injuries, team news, weather, line-ups and other events.
- Ensure markets are suspended, updated and reopened correctly during live events.
Risk & Exposure - Monitor real-time liabilities, positions and trading P&L.
- Identify unusual or potentially adverse betting activity.
- Distinguish sharp customer activity from recreational betting flow.
- Manage large bet requests, manual approvals and exposure limits.
- Adjust prices, limits or market settings where required to manage risk.
Performance & Analysis - Reconcile daily trading performance across sports and markets.
- Analyse P&L, win/loss, hold and margin performance.
- Investigate significant trading outcomes, pricing errors and operational issues.
- Identify opportunities to improve trading procedures and exposure rules.
Trading Analyst Requirements: - Strong understanding of sports betting markets and mechanics.
- Experience with pre-match and/or in-play trading.
- Understanding of liabilities, exposure, margin and P&L.
- Confidence making rapid decisions under pressure.
- Strong numerical and analytical ability.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Experience with sportsbook/trading platforms such as OpenBet, Kambi, Sportradar or similar.
- SQL experience would be advantageous but isn't essential.
Interviews are being conducted W/C 17th August, so if you are interested please apply now for immediate consideration.
