Principal Technologist

This is a strategic advisory and delivery leadership position, working closely with executive stakeholders to lift engineering standards, improve delivery quality, and support the adoption of AI across modern software delivery.
This role would suit someone who can operate at both executive and delivery level, someone who is comfortable shaping strategy, removing delivery friction, setting technical guardrails, and helping strong teams move faster with more structure.

What you’ll be doing

Provide enterprise-level technology leadership across engineering, delivery, QA and security practices.
Help translate business priorities into clear technical direction and delivery outcomes.
Partner with executive stakeholders to improve delivery standards, ways of working and governance.
Identify bottlenecks across the software delivery lifecycle and lead practical changes to reduce friction.
Set clear guardrails around automated testing, secure-by-design development, DevSecOps and quality assurance.
Advise on where AI can improve software delivery, including tooling, ROI, risk and operating model considerations.
Support and guide teams delivering AI-focused initiatives so they stay aligned to broader enterprise goals.

What we’re looking for

Senior technology leadership experience across large-scale engineering or enterprise delivery environments.
Strong understanding of modern engineering practices, including CI/CD, DevSecOps, TDD, automated testing and agile delivery at scale.
Experience setting governance, quality, security and delivery standards across complex technology teams.
Confidence operating with C-suite or executive stakeholders, ideally CDO, CTO or digital leadership teams.
Practical understanding of how AI is changing software delivery and how to assess opportunities, risks and value.
Ability to work through ambiguity, influence across teams, and move between strategic advisory and hands-on problem solving.
