Senior Software Engineer - Java

I’m partnering with a market-leading organisation that is quietly building one of the most sophisticated software platforms in the country. The company is already profitable, well-funded and established, but it still runs with the pace and ambition of a high-growth product company. Their platform sits at the centre of their digital business, and they’re now looking for a Principal Engineer to drive engineering excellence and alignment across product and platform teams as they scale into the next chapter of growth.

If you're someone who thrives on solving engineering challenges at scale in fast-paced, product-led SaaS environments, this role gives you real influence where it counts, without the red tape. You bring the ability to zoom out and shape long-term technical strategy, while also zooming in to solve deep engineering challenges with clarity and pragmatism. You will report directly to the C-suite and operate within high-trust environments where technical depth, leadership, and clear communication are paramount. You will influence Engineering Managers, other Principal Engineers, and senior engineers, setting the standard for engineering culture across large, modern organisations.


Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain large-scale Java applications and microservices, primarily using Spring Boot and related frameworks, ensuring high performance, scalability, and maintainability across distributed systems.
• Lead the end-to-end software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, solution design, implementation, automated testing, deployment, and post-production support, following Agile delivery methodologies.
• Skilled at working to build alignment, drive decision-making, and communicate transparently

What you will work on:

• Lightweight frameworks like Micronaut or Quarkus for fast, scalable microservices
• Kafka, gRPC, and REST APIs for real-time and event-based communication
