THE OPPORTUNITY We are looking for two Senior .NET Backend Engineers to join a well-established, cross-functional technology squad at a major ASX-listed organisation. This is a long-running program of work with a clear roadmap, a strong team culture, and a genuine October go-live milestone driving real urgency.
You will be embedded in an agile squad focused on building and evolving a suite of microservices and cloud-native backend systems that process high volumes of real-time transaction data. The work is meaningful, technically interesting, and directly connected to customer-facing outcomes at scale.
The team is tight-knit and well-led. You will collaborate closely with a technically strong engineering lead, solution architects, product owners, and other senior engineers who take quality seriously.
WHAT YOU WILL DO - Design, build and maintain .NET microservices on Azure, handling high-throughput data flows
- Develop and deploy Azure Functions (HTTP, Service Bus, and Timer triggers) using the isolated worker model
- Build and maintain data pipelines that extract, transform and load transaction data into a cloud data warehouse
- Integrate backend services with external systems, including point-of-sale and offer orchestration platforms
- Write clean, testable code with strong unit, integration, and API test coverage
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps
- Contribute to production support — logging, monitoring, and alerting via Application Insights
- Participate actively in agile ceremonies, code reviews, and squad rituals
- Collaborate with architects and product owners to shape technical solutions from brief through to delivery
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR You are a backend-focused engineer who lives in the .NET and Azure ecosystem. Front-end work is not part of this role. Essential:
- 5+ years of commercial, modern .NET backend engineering experience
- Strong hands-on experience with Azure — App Services, Azure Functions, Service Bus, Event Grid
- Proven experience with Cosmos DB and/or SQL Server in production systems
- Microservices design and delivery — ideally in a high-volume, event-driven environment
- CI/CD with Azure DevOps — pipelines, repos, release management
- Solid understanding of API security, SOLID principles, and clean code practices
- Experience writing testable code and building automated test suites
- Comfortable working in an agile squad and communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Highly Regarded:
- Experience with data pipelines — Azure Data Factory, Snowflake, or similar
- Infrastructure as Code using Bicep or Terraform
- Azure cloud certifications (Developer Associate, DevOps Engineer Expert, or similar)
- Background in payments, loyalty, retail technology, or consumer-facing digital platforms
- Experience integrating with POS systems or offer/promotions engines
