Business Development Representive | Sydney Flames

Job Description
We are looking for a driven, relationship-led Business Development Representative to join Hoops Capital and own day-to-day commercial activity for the Sydney Flames – the proud WNBL franchise that has been at the heart of Australian women's basketball for decades.
This is a rare opportunity to play a defining role in one of the most exciting growth stories in Australian sport. Women's basketball is on a powerful upward curve – attendances are climbing, broadcast audiences are growing, and the Flames are central to that movement. You will sit at the intersection of community, corporate and game-day commercial activity, with the autonomy to build, sell and convert across every Flames audience segment.
If you are an ambitious BDR or SDR – particularly with an events, hospitality, membership or sport background – who is energised by hitting targets and genuinely passionate about women's sport, this role is built for you.

The Opportunity:
  • Women's Sport Tailwinds: The WNBL and women's basketball in Australia are growing at pace. You join a Flames team with rising profile, ambitious commercial targets and the platform to shift how women's sport is sold and experienced in this country.
  • Own the Flames Commercial Engine: Single match, group, family, community, membership and premium sales – this isn't a one-product role. You own the full Flames commercial mix and have the autonomy to build a playbook that fits the audience.
  • Hoops Capital Backing: Work inside the Hoops Capital group, alongside the Sydney Kings (NBL) commercial team, the Head of Ticketing & Membership Growth and the Business Development Manager, Premium Ticketing.
  • Game-Day Pulse: Be the visible, on-the-ground commercial presence for the Flames at every home game – running the Flames Lounge, hosting premium clients, and feeding insight straight back into pricing, product and marketing.
What You'll Bring:
  • Sales Hunger: 1–3 years in a BDR, SDR, ticketing, membership, partnerships or events sales role, with a track record of meeting or exceeding targets.
  • Events / Sport / Hospitality Edge: Experience selling in events, venues, hospitality, memberships or sport is highly valued – we want someone who knows how to fill rooms and seats.
  • Grassroots + Corporate Range: You can pitch a corporate hospitality package on Monday and a school group booking on Tuesday – and enjoy both.
  • Genuine Passion for Women's Sport: You don't just tolerate women's sport – you believe in it, follow it, and want to help build it.
  • Game-Day Ready: Comfortable working evenings, weekends and Flames home games during the WNBL season (September–April).
Why Join Us?
  • Defined Career Path: Clear progression through Hoops Capital's commercial structure across Flames, Kings and the wider group.
  • High-Performance Sport Culture: Work alongside basketball operations, marketing and premium ticketing in a fast-moving elite sport business.
  • Real Ownership: Approximately 90% of the role is Flames-dedicated – this is your franchise, your pipeline, your numbers.
  • TOIL Policy: Time Off in Lieu for additional hours worked on game days, so the season grind is properly recognised.
