Engineering Manager – Enterprise AI Enablement
$230,000 – $240,000 + Bonus + Super Major Australian Financial Services Organisation
This is a technical leadership role at the core of the organisation’s
AI enablement division.
You will lead a high-performing software engineering team building the platforms that power
enterprise AI,
customer-facing AI products, and a centralised
AI knowledge base used across the business. The focus is on real systems, real users, and real scale, not experiments.
The mandate is clear: build production-grade AI platforms, enable AI across the enterprise, and embed AI into how products and teams operate day-to-day.
You’ll inherit a team of ~15 engineers and be responsible for scaling the function rapidly while maintaining engineering quality, delivery velocity, and platform reliability.
Core Skills & Experience
- Proven leadership of software engineering teams (15+ engineers) with a track record of scaling teams rapidly
- Strong foundation as a hands-on software engineer building distributed, production-grade systems
- Experience delivering AI-enabled platforms and data-intensive systems into live environments
- Deep understanding of AI enablement architectures: agentic systems, RAG, AI platforms, and model lifecycle tooling
- Platform engineering mindset across reliability, observability, security, testing, and resilience
- Experience building customer-facing AI products and internal AI services at scale
- Knowledge of enterprise knowledge systems and AI-driven knowledge platforms
- Strong systems design capability across cloud-native and enterprise environments
- Ability to operate across product, data, and platform teams to drive adoption and impact
- Confident technical communicator who can lead through architecture, not hierarchy
