Newly created role for a Site reliability Engineering Manager to join a leading global financial organization in a Permanent role based in Sydney. This is a Hybrid role working in the office 3 days a week.

You’ll be joining a high performing Reliability Technology team where you will use your deep technical expertise and pragmatic approach to software design and architecture to lead and grow an engineering function focused on reliability at scale.

This role sits at the heart of a large Banking and Financial Services platform and has end to end accountability for the reliability, performance and resilience of critical digital services used by customers every day. The team operates with a clear reliability objective and plays a key role in ensuring systems are not just operational but consistently high quality and resilient.

You will lead multiple teams of engineers who build automated, scalable and fault tolerant systems. This is not a traditional operations role. The focus is on engineering led reliability, building the tools and platforms that prevent incidents rather than reacting to them. You will be accountable for both people leadership and technical outcomes and will help shape a strong culture of engineering excellence.

What you will be responsible for

• Leading and developing multiple teams of software engineers focused on site reliability
  • Owning the reliability performance and resilience of core banking platforms
  • Driving automation and engineering solutions to improve system availability and scalability
  • Partnering with engineering teams to influence system design and architecture with reliability in mind
  • Building a culture of continuous improvement, accountability and high engineering standards
  • Ensuring systems meet defined reliability and performance targets

What you bring

• Proven experience managing multiple engineering teams
  • Strong technical background with a preference for Java/ Golang based environments
  • Experience delivering complex engineering initiatives in large scale environments
  • Product led engineering experience with strong Agile delivery principles
  • Solid understanding of how to design and build scalable, maintainable and high performing web applications
